KCS has been operating since 2011. The business fabricates structural steel at Holtze and erects and installs it on sites around Darwin and out into the Northern Territory.
The work is structural steel fabrication, coded and specialised welding, steel erection and onsite installation, along with stairs, balustrades and platforms. Alongside those packages KCS takes on structural repairs and modifications, rigging and crane-assisted works, industrial maintenance, shutdown and breakdown support, and mobile welding and fabrication where a job needs it.
Crews and plant are based here, which is what makes remote and regional project support practical rather than theoretical. KCS also puts effort into building trade capability locally, including apprentices coming through the workshop.

100% Indigenous-owned
KCS is a capable structural steel contractor first. Indigenous ownership is part of who the business is, not a substitute for what it can build.
The business is wholly Indigenous-owned and Territory-based, and it invests in local trade capability through the workshop. KCS is an NTIBN Certified Member and Supply Nation Registered; the certification detail head contractors need sits on the Head Contractors & Procurement page.

Workshop to site
Steel is fabricated in the workshop, loaded out on KCS plant, and erected on site by KCS crews. The people change across the stages; the accountability does not.
STAGE 01
Workshop fabrication
Members are cut, drilled, welded and match-marked at Holtze to the approved shop drawings.
STAGE 02
Site mobilisation
Steel, plant and crew are mobilised together, in the order the site and the lift require.
STAGE 03
Erection and installation
Steel is landed, positioned and connected by KCS crews through to handover.

How KCS works
Fabrication to the drawings
Steel is fabricated to the project drawings and specification. Where a detail does not work in the shop or on site, it is raised in writing rather than resolved quietly on the floor.
Match-marked for the sequence
Steel is marked and organised so the site crew can identify what goes where, supporting installation sequence and traceability through the package.
Working inside site systems
KCS works to the project's quality and safety systems and the head contractor's site requirements, submitting documentation for review before mobilising.
Sequenced to the program
Fabrication order follows the erection sequence, so steel arrives in the order the crane and the program need it.
05
The people doing the work
KCS is a trade business. The fabrication team in the workshop and the site crews are the company, and the work moves between them.
Apprentices come through the workshop alongside qualified tradespeople, which is how KCS builds trade capability locally rather than importing it for each job.
We erect the steel we fabricate.
